Long Exposure Photography Photography Compact eBook Markus Kapferer Reviews
If you do not already know how to do long exposure photography, this book will not be very helpful. It is extremely general, mostly casual commentary about a few shots by the author.
Informative book!
This is very good I don't have to stumble through all the mistakes I would have made
A quick easy read with some excellent tips. Got some great ideas and helped me rethink some my post-processing workflow. I would recommend it.
The book is about an interesting special field in photography, images taken with very long exposures. It shows a range of subjects that can be treated that way. Unfortunately, while it whets your appetite it really doesn't advance very much your feeling for the breadth of work possible or for the details of doing photography in this manner. Some specifics
1. The author suggests that certain equipment would be useful in this work. But this is very sketchy and limited. In particular, the choice of lens would be important.
2. Picture-taking details to accomplish the goals are not covered in any detail. What is special about the methods needed here compared to the more usual photographic conditions?
3. Details about processing the images are too sketchy to understand the special methods that might be needed to make satisfactory images.
My feeling is that if one is motivated to try capturing images in this field, then just going out and taking careful photographs will be as helpful as spending lots of time with the discussion in this book. One further point should be mentioned the writing is very stilted and distracting in many places. The author is apparently German and the writing seems to reflect the word order (and sometimes the words themselves) of the German language. One is not necessarily looking for high literary style in a book about photography, but the writing style hold not be a distraction interfering with your appreciation of the photography ideas.
I did get all in information that I expected and in a concise format. Well done. Goes nicely with Markus' book on composition. My one piece of negative feedback is that it is poorly edited mostly with the English idiom or basic spelling; mask becomes mark or there instead of their. One thorough edit would do wonders. The other book is free of these issues.
Markus provided some excellent tips & advice to the reader. Each image is not only inspiring, but detailed explicitly.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in creating spectacular images.
